Spoiler warning: Plot, character development, or ending details follow.

Homeworld of the Shadows and the Drakh. The First One known as Lorien lived deep beneath the planet's surface until his meeting with John Sheridan.

Z'ha'dum was a world near the rim that contained ancient ruins. In 2256, shortly before the founding of Babylon 5, the planet was explored by the Earth IPX ship Icarus. When they arrived they awoke an ancient species, the Shadows, who captured or killed all of the crew of the Icarus to prevent knowledge of their find from reaching outsiders before the time was right.

The Shadows were not the original occupants of this planet. Rather, this was Lorien's homeworld. The Shadows colonized the planet to worship him. Along side them came other followers of chaos, including the Drakh, who also made Z'ha'dum their homeworld.

The planet was destroyed in 2261 shortly after the Shadows left the galaxy.

Notes

It is assumed that the Drakh had a hand in Z'ha'dum's destruction, being forewarned by the Vorlon doomsday weapon Lyta Alexander via telepathic communication of the arrival of Alfred Bester onboard a White Star, and thus evacuated.
