The IAS Excalibur is the second of two new Victory Class Destroyers. Built around adapted Vorlon technology, namely its immensely powerful main gun.

The only surviving example of its kind, as its sister ship, the IAS Victory, was destroyed in A Call To Arms in a suicide manoeuver aimed at destroying the Shadow Death Cloud attacking Earth.
From that point, it was transferred under the Earth Alliance and assigned a new captain, Matthew Gideon, who would command it on a quest to find a cure for the Drakh Plague.
