G.O.D.

G.O.D. is an acronym for Geosynchronous Orbital Defense platforms. They consists of a sphere of 18 orbital defense stations. These stations have missile batteries and particle cannons and are positioned for complete overlapping coverage of Earth. These huge constructions were built following the Earth-Minbari War to ensure that any future alien attacks on Earth will be thwarted.

The smallest of these stations is over a mile in length and spins to provide its crew with gravity. Since the stations do not need any sort of large engines, as do ships, they are able to carry much more in the way of firepower than would a ship of the same size. Each one carries at least four squadrons of Starfuries. Earth Com one is the largest of the stations; this station is the site of Earthforce Command.

In 2262, when Sheridan's White Star fleet arrived at Earth, President Clark ordered the batteries to be turned on the civilian populations of the planet.
