Entil'Zha

From The Great Machine

Jump to: navigation, search

Translated from Minbari the name means roughly "One Who Creates The Future", or "Keeper of the Future". (Mov02, In the Beginning) According to Turval the exact meaning of the word is unknown, but though to be derived from Vorlon. "(To Dream in the City of Sorrows)"

Entil'Zha is often confused with Ranger One by the other races. The two titles are in fact separate.

After Valen created the Rangers and others took Valen's place, they always took only the Anla'shok Na title, honouring Valen who is the true Entil'Zha. This tradition continued for 900 years until Jemmier commanded that Jeffrey Sinclair take on the name and reunite Entil'Zha with Anla'shok Na. -- (comic trilogy, To Dream in the City of Sorrows)

"Zha is the usual reference for the future, whose meaning changes depending on whether it's a suffix or a prefix, and what it's up against. Isil'Zha usually means change, changing the future, coming of a new age; Entil'Zha is the one who creates or guides the forces creating the future; and Z'ha'dum (with the broken zha) is the death of the future, or the dark future.
