What do you need to IRC?
-
First off, you need what is called an IRC client. The most commonly used one for PC's is mIRC and Ircle for macs. Grab the copy you need. Once downloaded, install it.
After Installation...
-
After you have it all installed, load it up. Set up your options such as IRC nick, email address, etc. Although I've never used Ircle, I assume it uses a similar process. Once that's done, you need to connect to a server. In the server list, pick any of the servers which link to EFnet.
If you are unsure, pick a random one and hit connect. A window should appear with some connect infomation on it. Disregard this information, but type in "/server xxx" (minus the quotes), and where xxx is one of the servers on the list below. You know you've made a successful connection when server information and rules scroll by on your screen.

Okay, I'm logged in...now what?
-
Once you're connected, you need to join the channels #Babylon5 and #Babylon4. You can do this by typing "/join #Babylon5" and "/join #Babylon4" (minus the quotes). In mIRC, a channel folder window may open up, in which case you should just type in #Babylon5, hit add, type #Babylon4, hit add, and then select both of them and hit join. A new window for each channel should open up, indicating that you have successfully joined the channel.
See ya there!
