Starcraft 2 and some history

Heya.
Don't know if any of you remember this, but way before this site was devoted to the B5 game, it was actually one of the first StarCraft 1 guilds, named "The First Ones" which was based off Babylon 5 of course. Kind of died off even before the game was released, but for a time it was loads of fun and very social. Then came the whole Sierra game and the launch of this site as a dedicated source of related information. Anyway.. hope to have some time this weekend to check out SC2., but its been a while since I remembered the old days of the First Ones Starcraft guild. Great weekend to you all!

SteinerX has been working on bringing Babylon 5 to the Sins of a Solar Empire universe, there is already a playable alpha on the website, and frequent updates.

X3: Terran Conflict - A Dream Given Form
The team is nearing a demo release, there have been a few hurdles but they are quickly overcoming them and preparing a demo consisting of all EA space (And yes, that includes Epsilon 3, and the Babylon 5 station). Be sure to check out the screen shots section, as new renderings and screen shots get posted unannounced. :)

Homeworld 2 - War Without End
The latest round of SVN updates added weapons to Babylon 5 itself. Currently only the Minbari and EA have been added, but don't let that dissuade you from trying it out. This is perhaps the best looking Homeworld 2 mod out there, and it rocks.

As you may remember, D.C. comics recently announced that J. Michael Straczynski will be writing Superman and Wonder Woman starting July, 2010. In a recent interview, some new information has been released on the direction of the new Superman comics.

While Superman is no stranger to alien races and planets, his new adventure places him roughly 250 years in the future, when the galaxy is recovering from war, Earth has been ravaged by an Alien plague, an interstellar alliance is fighting a new and deadly threat - and Superman may be the only hope Humanity has of surviving.

Impending server move

I haven't mentioned much of this to most people, so this may come as a surprise. FirstOnes.com is planning to move to a new host in the very near future. Due to tight time constraints, the exact timeframe isn't particularly clear, but things will rapidly move forward in the next few days and with some luck, the site will have fully transferred over without so much as anyone noticing.


Stemming from this move, we have a new opportunity to make some significant improvements. The FirstOnes.com staff will be evaluating the existing site structure and may use this as an opportunity to make some much-needed changes to internal organization. Many currently operating applications may be updated to the latest code base, folders and directories may be re-sorted, and access privileges restructured.

No doubt due to this combination of a single large move and numerous small tweaks, there will be hick-ups. If any oddities are observed after this switch has occurred, don't hesitate to send an email alert to [email]Sanfam@FirstOnes.com[/email] describing the issue. I'll check into them as soon as I am able.

Attention Mod Managers: Please contact me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns about access to your materials. Due to general inconsistency with storing access credentials over the past ten-ish years, we may need to reset user/password structures.

A closing note: The site has run fairly smoothly this past two years, but things are still far from free to operate. Every cent taken in goes straight back to improvements in the site's structure and ensures we've got the cash to keep going. We currently welcome any donations toward this effort. Due to issues of indeterminate origin, forum registration was knocked down for an extended period of time. But that's all gone now, as we have shuffled away from reCaptcha back to question-answer verification. Apparently, our captcha system has been broken for an indeterminate period of time, preventing registrations and anonymous forum scouring.

Now that we're aware of this problem, time can be put into fixing it. Keep an eye on this post for updates.

Last Chance for B5 Miniatures ?

Some may remember the Babylon 5 Fleet Action table top games by Agents of Gaming from several years back, and the metal Miniatures of Babylon 5 ships that accompanied them.

When AOG closed down, I thought that all Babylon 5 Miniatures were gone as well. It turns out, that late last year Ironwind Metals managed to get a license to manufacture more of them. Their license will expire next month, and they have no intention to renew it. When that happens, the last chance to acquire these models with disappear. Before that happens, I figured I should share the link with everyone here:
