Thanks, we've been busy

I think you'll like the shadows, they are fun. The games pixel shaders have been improved and shall be further. I've found a way to implement bump mapping which, provided I write the proper tools, should improve things considerably.

Any chance of a news item advertising our existance. Traffic has been rather light lately.

Anyone given it a try yet?

If youre going to misspell Babylon 5, make sure you misspell it the slighty more correct way "Babearlon 5".

I've been using the SVN and having quite a bit of fun with it. Having shadow ships does make winning a bit more easy though!

I've modified the Hyperions textures slightly to improve the specular effect created by the new shaders. I've also updated the Jupiter level with a new version of the Jupiter planet and a better lighting configuration.

On another note, I've finished the AreaCapture game type. Select it when you start a new game and test it to death!

I've updated the games shaders yet again to allow us to use parallax mapping (bump/normal mapping). And as they were the easiest to update....





The files are on our SVN repository if you want to try them.

I didn't think I could go one better with the shaders, but I could. Now ALL the lights are calculated per-pixel, including all the ship guns etc. It works rather well for the shadows!

I've updated the shadow ships to support the latest version. The hyperion and sharlin won't be uploaded until I iron out some bugs with the meshes.

Something I've been working on for a little while... the GOD sat. The pics show only the parallax texture, the colour and spec map are blank:



Once I get the texture maps finished I'll uploaded it to the SVN.

Zeelich has uploaded a new version of the Orion ring station, see our forums for pics or update your copy of the mod from the SVN!

I've finally got the GOD Sat to a state where I'm happy with it. Its not totally finished as there are still a few tweaks here and there I can make but I'm going to leave it for now.

Its on the SVN, update your copies and have a play. I expect this defence sat will be relatively expensive ingame as it is quite powerful enmass. But perfect for holding an area until the uber ships get researched (ie the sharlin and the warlock)

This has been a bit of a secret project of mine over the last few weeks which, now its mostly finished, I can now finally reveal!

Fully parallax mapped and using the full potential of the new shaders I present to you the new Omega model. This should please the omega fans out there! Right less talk more pics!



And some close-ups of the detail.



It is worth pointing out this is only the 1024x1024 texture resolution version, once the mod is more complete and a texture audit is done I may swap the parallax texture for double resolution one if we have the room. That version is rather nice.

Both the model and the source have been uploaded to the SVN, update your copies.

Just to warn you I still need to LOD the model. The small turrets are rather too detailed at the moment. It clocks in at ~10k at the moment, 5k of which is the turrets. This will easily be brought down ~8k for LOD0.

Now this is done it will be trivial to update the Nova, watch this space if I get the time between revision sessions!

I thought it was about time I updated the Omega-X to use the new Omega mesh and I think its turned out rather well....



I'm rather pleased with the texture work on this one, it turned out quite well. I've uploaded it to the SVN, enjoy!

In the pics you can also see an updated version of the per-pixel shader which now treats the attenuation per-pixel, this should improve the quality of the smaller lights. I still need to clean the code up so I'll upload it at a later date, consider this a sneak peek.

What's with the Relic Entertainment logo at the bottom right corner of most of the screenshots? Do you work for them?
