Graphics

Color code : Official Word / Confirmed First-Hand Experience Comments

This section deals with the graphics of the game from a more technical standpoint. So if you don't get some of this content here, just know that the game graphics are going to rule, with the proper hardware! :)

Hardware

The game will be 3D enhanced. But all hardware isn't created equally, so we've found that the nVidia RivaTNT chipset works better than anything else we've tested, including all the Voodoo's.

Hyperspace

About the hyperspace effect -- The TNT rnning in 32-bit looks perfect. On the Voodoo side, each successive chip looks better in hyperspace, due to the improvements in the filtering algorithms. The Voodoo 3 filtering is good enough to make the banding in hyperspace pretty hard to notice but Voodoo 1 and 2 owners are going to be missing out on great eyecandy.(6.18.99)

Ship Models

The ship models are done in Lightwave, and then ported directly into the game. For all you 3d modelers out there, these are extractable from the file...although it might take some work to figure out how. (7.16.99)

Cockpit Graphics

As of May 1999, the team is still hard at work on the HUD. This is the latest configuration, the first two are Centauri, the last Narn. These are still under a LOT of work, but as you can see, their nicely set up and detailed from a grpahics perspective.

Ship Decals

As per a suggestion in the public fourm, ship decals are now in the game. What are they? The little individual logo for each fighter, right above the cockpit. Its unique for every fighter, why not make it unique for Into the Fire? :)

They're in there, no details yet. (6.19.99)
