New Article Published!

A new article about our cause has been published. Check it out at Wired News. It includes comments from Dan Foy, a Sierra exec, and myself (Drazi Guy). The Sierra guys comments give us all a little hope and confirmation, I think.

Three Cheers for Drazi Guy

Many of you newer site viewers don't know me. I'm Grinner, site manager of FirstOnes.com. Sorry for not posting in awhile, but Drazi has been doing such a great job that I have needed to (along with me having a few piles of homework).

Anyway, Drazi Guy has been doing a superb job in aspects of the fan response to the game. His activites been noticed by many people out in the field, and have gotten us recognized in the gaming world out there. Although we'll never know our impact until the game is picked up by another company (and I will find that out), I couldn't have asked for better work and leadership. In the days where good help is hard to find, Drazi is the modern-day Drashalla. (If you don't get that, go watch the end of Season 2.)

Just to show him how much he's appreciated, why don't you all email him a word of thanks? He's probably put in as many hours doing things for this site in the past month that I have in the last six months (and that is a pretty big number of hours).

E-Mail Campaign Over

It is true. What I feel was our best effort to date is done now. We succeeded in sending out over 1500 e-mails to each site, and I recieved alot of feedback from them. One site, Maximum PC, has posted an article about our campaign and a link to us. I will keep you posted if any more sites publish new articles about us.

E-Mail Progress Report

Ok. We need to stop e-mailing AVault. They have responded that they are putting a link to us in their B5 articles. And they dont like that they have recieved around 1000 e-mails today. Thanks. Furthur updates should be posted tonight. And please, don't send more than one e-mail to each site. We do not want to annoy these people. And if you find sites that already have links to us, please inform me ASAP. Thanks.

GameCenter Poll

Well, the poll went good. At last check, I believe Into the Fire had 51% of the votes, or about 3000 of them. Just shows what support we have :)
New Plan

It was suggested in the forum that we should have the gaming sites link to us when they do articles about the game, so people know where to go. So in that spirit, we have decided to send a couple of e-mails their way. And by a couple I meant all that we can manage. Let's make a point :) Check out this topic for more details.

Here is the promised list of e-mails. I will post half of them now, and then half tomorrow. No need to over exert ourselves.

tips@wired.com, newsfeedback@wired.com, pc_mail@ign.com, rob@pcxl.com, letters@pcgamer.com, mike@pcxl.com, editor@cdmag.com, webeditor@cdmag.com, letters.pcgp@gameproworld.com, gamespot_uk@zd.com, brian@avault.com, amer@gamespot.com, david@avault.com, editors@next-generation.com, ron@gamespot.com,
Independance War Conversion

A group of people from our forum and from the I-War forum have gotten together and are working on an Independance War to Babylon 5 mod. Hopefully, this will be done fairly soon. I would appreciate it if all the people contributing to and working on this project coul e-mail me. Thanks alot.
Federationhq.net Poll

FederationHq.net is holding a poll on the game. Get over there and vote, before it is reset again :). Some of you know what I mean.
A Word On The Council

For those of you who didn't know, a vote was recently held to determine a leader and 5 helpers to help get all of us here organized and to coordinate our efforts. After what I believe was a somewhat poor showing at the poll, these people were elected. They are, to the best of my knowledge:

Drazi Guy- Leader
Jamie- Helper
Hot Metal- Helper
Death (FirstOnee)- Helper
G'xan- Helper
Death- Helper

Thanks to all of those who voted. For exact numbers on the vote, please contact Imrahil, as he concieved and co-ordinated the vote.

And for all of those who wish to know, the council is at work, and will hopefully be making some announcements as to possible future strategies soon.
RE: Recent Lack Of Updates

As many of you have probably noticed, FirstOnes has seemed to be idle for the past 6 days. Believe me, we have not been idle. We just haven't had anything that we could report on. Hopefully, more new news will be forthcoming. I am now going to go through all the pages here at FirstOnes to see what needs updating. If you see anything, then please, inform me. Thanks. All help is appreciated.

Eidos To Continue Babylon5:Into The Fire?

Over on the message boards, an employee at Eidos's headquarters in Wimbledon, London, posted the following tibit of information, which sheds a little hope on the future of the project:

"I've spoken to the those people here, and it was met fairly well initially - at least it was encouraging enough that they're now looking into the licensing issues".

We contacted the Public Relations department at Eidos in the US, who have not heard a thing about this issue, and recommended we contact the UK office, which we did. They again have heard nothing about it, but did say that they do not know exactly what goes on in the Technical Support department, which is where this employee works. We will keep you posted if we hear anything more.

The Hour of the Wolf

Drazi forgot to post this, so I got it. :)

It is now seven days, since Sierra cancelled Babylon 5: Into the Fire. In a way, I think we have lost more. It is as though a heart has been pierced and a spirit has poured out the wound. Blame Sierra. It is not foolish. It is not destructive. It is ... human. The developers may return to other projects, and take up new roles. I suppose they could become quite happy with their new position. It is not what they want though. I think they are more lost then anyone else in the Universe. Some have refused to eat for seven days, fasting, praying, and waiting. They believe, are they the only ones who do? Sierra has paused in their pursuit of war and everywhere there is a sense of imminent change. Whether it is a change for good or ill, no one can tell, because no one has answered two very important questions. What is the real reason Sierra cancelled the game? and will this game return from Z'Ha'Dum?

This piece was written by Kryten. This comes seven days after the death of the game. Yes, the relationship to the show was intended.

Now we shall find out if the history of the future will repeat itself. Or rather, if history will attend to itself.
New Section Online

We have added a new section to the FirstOnes menu, called Game Cancellation. We will be adding to it as new info about the cancellation becomes available. So far, we have the publisher contact list, which you should ALL be making use of, a link to FirstOnes-B5Games, and a list of all the supporting articles. E-mail me if you have any suggestions for this menu.

3dnews.net has published an interview with the president of Sierra, David Grenewetzki. Among the questions asked is one about Bablyon 5. A must see. Check it out here.

New Article At Spotted Pony

We have another new news article posted, this time at Spotted Pony. It is a humourous little article. You should definately check this one out.
Developers On GameDive!

I have been in contact with the developers, and with Dan Niemiec at the Game Dive since I learned of the cancellation, and have been informed that the developers will be on the Game Dive Wednesday night, at 7:00 pm PST. Be sure to register here well ahead of time. And make sure to log into the broadcast early, because we hope to get enough response to overwhelm the Game Dive servers :). Be sure to spread the word to everyone you know. I expect to see you all there. Here is the official release from the Game Dive.

If you or someone you love was given the boot by Sierra last week, then you don't want to miss this show. The Game Guys have invited all axed victims of Sierra's "restructuring" to explain exactly what the heck happened. Marc Hudgins and Dan Foy of the recently cancelled Babylon 5 will be on live. Other crippled game designers should follow suit. Login, champion their cause and end the chaos!

You will need the RealPlayer to hear this broadcast. You can download RealPlayer G2 here. It may take a little effort to find it, as they try to hide it.
