Heya guys. Sorry we haven't updated in so long. I've been getting slammed in school. Anyway, as you now see, we have a new front page image. Pretty spiffy huh? :) There is also a separate title image for the sub-pages, such as the .plans and FAQ. The Starfury model is courtesy of Mark Kane, and the scene was done by Epsilon3.

Demo Annouced!

Yes, that's right, there is a demo in the works! Technically, this is the Alpha Combat Preview, which lets you fly around, look at all the pretty ships, and show off some eye candy. The developers don't want to call it a demo yet, because seriously, its not even close.

This demo is an exclusive with the official Babylon 5 Magazine, and a CD will be included in the November 1999 issue. There will only be a limited number of these CD's made, so it is recommended that you either subscribe or get to some store and hope you're in luck. (This was actually annouced some time ago, and I knew about this when I visited. Unforunately, in all my activity, I neglected to post it here.)

Uncomyn Gifts has the magazines available for sale. I believe it comes out to about ten bucks after shipping.

  Daily Developer Rants

Captial ships fighters!
Yes, the cap ship will have fewer fighters the next time you engage it, especially if you don't wait a real long time.

The replenishment rate is TBD, but will be done fairly for all races.
   --Dan Foy

In between missions
Well, you never 'land', only dock. You will be able to go to your quarters, training area, etc. But no interactive space bar.
   --Dan Foy

I'd like to add that you will also have access to a data terminal that will display messages from characters, briefings, debriefings, ISN reports, and which will give access to the official EA database, among other things. Boning up on alien races and historical events could well help with how well you do in missions. You will also be allowed to go hop in your fighter in-between missions so that you can mess around with flying until you're called for a mission. As far as character interaction goes, there is some, but not in the Wing Commander way that you're thinking about. This is a combat sim, not an adventure game or RPG.

Game Progress!
Explosions are in the late experimental phase(we're not doing them the wya everyothergame does -no simple sprites for us!) -looking great -best I've sen in a game to date. Models are mostly done, but are getting lots of polish. Missions are written and are being reviewed before implementation and the custscenes are all shot and headed for post-production.
   --Marc Hudgins
